Moderation: Rainer Hank (F.A.Z.)
Sufficient truth and knowledge about the AfD
Melanie Amann is best known in the Literaturhaus as a straightforward moderator in. She works for the politics department of the capital editorial office of Der Spiegel and has dealt intensively with the AfD (Alternative for Germany). Ever since this right-wing populist party captured the public imagination, Frauke Petry or Alexander Gauland have stood for a barely understood movement that is gradually making nationalism, xenophobia and homophobia hopeful. Amann presents here the first comprehensive account of this youngest German party. The debate book "Angst für Deutschland" (Fear for Germany), published by Droemer Verlag, explains how the populism of the AfD could become so successful, which currents carry it and why all defensive strategies have failed. Amann provides a glimpse behind the scenes of the party: she maintains contacts with renegade and active members of the party leadership and can draw on a large trove of internal emails from the AfD's federal executive committee. It moderates Rainer Hank of the F.A.Z
