The warm, authentic emotions and great song arrangements of sixties soul have been experiencing a worldwide renaissance for some years now, and one of the protagonists of this comeback is Brit Michael Kiwanuka. The son of Ugandan refugees discovered the soul music of the 60s only after an already quite considerable local career as a singer of numerous rock bands. Even his first own songs tended more towards rock, and folk before Michael Kiwanuka discovered the music that was to become his destiny from then on: the soul music of the 60s. While studying jazz music at the University of Westminster, he buried himself deeper and deeper in that sound, developing his own aesthetic that borrows from the soulful grandeur of sixties soul down to the last detail, while also carrying a modern twist. His debut album "Home Again" was released in March 2012 and charted high in almost every European country. It rose to the Top 5 in England, Belgium, Holland and Norway, and even in the U.S. word spread of this extraordinary singer, whose vocal quality is often compared to legends like Otis Redding, Bill Withers and Terry Callier. In 2015, Michael Kiwanuka set to work on his second album, for which he had composed more than two dozen songs on the previous tour. He recorded it with two very different producers: Firstly, the American studio genius Danger Mouse, and secondly with Inflo, a new London producer previously known only to insiders, who is currently being talked about as one of the most exciting new talents behind the mixing desk.
