Most (especially young) people know Michael Malarkey primarily as an actor from the popular series "Vampire Diaries". But Michael was also active as a musician and songwriter before his acting career. At least since his first single release "Feed the Flames" (2014) it is known that he is also a great singer and performer.
In September 2017 Michael Malarkey's debut album "Mongrels" was released.
On it are all original compositions that not only show Michael has a great sense of melody, but are also lyrically haunting. Michael's baritone voice mixes with music influenced by early Tom Waits and Townes van Zandt - Nashville is sometimes atmospherically very close.
Michael Malarkey says himself about the songs on his debut album: "Mongrels represents the many-faced animal within us that is here but never quite from here; the dreamer within us, stricken with wanderlust, who is tuned to the frequencies of change; the nomad within us whose roots grow not in the ground, but in the wind. It represents the mystery of our vagrant nature, at times a source of weakness and at times a source of power."
After two sold-out shows in Berlin and Cologne in November, Michael Malarkey and his band will return to Germany for two concerts this summer.
