That Michael Wollny is not only one of the most important jazz pianists of our time, but also enjoys approaching topics in a wide variety of ways via text and performance, he has impressively demonstrated, among other things, in 2015 with the "Goldbergtangenten" and the interweaving of a book by Thomas Bernhard with the musical work of Bach in the Alte Oper. When the jazz pianist accepts the invitation to the Alte Oper this time, it will be about music and text in a format of its own. Both on the grand piano and in dialogue with the language and performance artist Alex Nowitz, Wollny deals with the theme of "heroes" and symphonic music, taking Beethoven's "Eroica" as his point of departure. A witty, surprising, humorous, lively, musical exchange, then, on a theme that can be shaped from Beethoven to the present.
