MINDEN were formed in January 2011 in Kansas City, Missouri by vocalist Casey Burge and longtime members Lia Gist (vocals), James Taylor (guitar), Evan Houston (bass), and Ryan Johnson (drums). In 2012, the entire band moves together to a house in Portland, Oregon to focus completely on music and making a name for themselves in what is currently the hippest metropolis in the United States. The band is then completed in Portland in 2014 with the addition of local musician Papi Fimbres (percussion).
The band quickly makes a name for themselves in the incredibly moving and colorful music scene and is celebrated by local media. A self-released record (Exotic Cakes), their absurdly funny music videos, web series, festivals, songs on various compilations and an EP make their popularity grow steadily. Red Bull also takes the band under their wing and makes them one of the Red Bull Soundselect Bands. Outside of their live shows and music, Minden is known in Portland for their lively party spirit and weekly barbecues at their house. MINDEN's music is accented by solid grooves and soulful chord progressions that put listeners in an absolute dancing mood. The band plays with a mix of styles ranging from funk and soul to lounge and bossa nova. The secret, however, lies in singer Casey Burge's unforgettable riffs, vocal harmonies and expressive lyrics that deal with love, passion and sexually - spiritual monologues.
