The beautiful Mirandolina is desired by all men, but the gentlemen of creation, who try their luck, bite their teeth out at her. They try to win her heart with the most insane tricks, but Mirandolina plays her foolhardy game with the vanity of men, their quirks and their self-lies and thus exposes the hollowness of love and the self-deceptions of lovers. Only the melancholy misanthrope Don Andronini is able to move her heart, and so a turbulent comedy unfolds about the stupidity of men and the vanity of women, about truth and lies and about play and seriousness.
