07.09.2018 sees the release of "Ich", Moop Mama's fourth studio album. Ten individuals release an album for the fourth time as a band - and they call it: me. In doing so, they create more than a we, more than mere group dynamics.
Moop Mama create a new identity made up of the egos, talents, whims and views of ten completely different musicians. And when one guy raps, two work the drums and seven guys get everything out of their lungs, it's quite a statement to sell the whole thing as ME. The MOOP MAMA machine - a unit on the outside, a lot of friction on the inside. But friction breeds heat, and ICH is the hottest record the band has ever dropped.
The city and public space. Its inhabitants and their lives - these have always been central themes in MOOP MAMA's songs. On ICH, MOOP MAMA tell stories that have something to say to each of us. About individual feelings and subjective experiences, which are nevertheless exemplary for the big picture of our present time and society. One album, 15 songs and almost as many first-person narrators. Everyday observations and inner views, the current state of the nation and the world, love and revolution in the city. Fat bass and still a lot behind it. Always between utopia and the - hard - ground of facts.
