Even though Denroy Morgan left Jamaica at 19 to try his luck as a musician in New York, he always remained loyal to reggae and successfully took it to the stage with the Black Eagles in the seventies.
His children also emulated him, eight of them forming Morgan Heritage in the early nineties. Their very first performance at the Reggae Sunsplash Festival at the Bob Marley Center in Montego Bay in 1992 left an enthusiastic audience. The band was promptly invited to perform again at the finale of the six-day event. Since then, Morgan Heritage have earned a reputation as the "Royal Family of Reggae." Back on the island, the siblings shook off all mainstream accusations, developed their own roots reggae variant, and then enriched it more and more with Latin and hip-hop elements. Finally, Morgan Heritage won the Grammy in the category "Best Reggae Album" a year later for the album "Strictly Roots", which was released in 2015. Two years later, the Magicians presented their 15th studio production "Avrakedabra", on which Morgan Heritage focused on a pop-reggae fusion. Their first single was a cover of the Jimmy Cliff hit "Reggae Night". Two sons of the legendary Bob Marley, Ziggy and Stephen, paid tribute to the band.
