Their explosive mix of jazz, R&B, rock, funk and heavy metal existed long before the Black Rock Coalition and bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Living Colour. Without question, Mother's Finest are among the most vital and charismatic rock groups on the planet. With their furious vocalist Joyce Kennedy at the epicentre of the sonic quake, a tight rhythm section that leaves nothing to be desired and masses of fiery guitar salvos, this band has long since secured its permanent place in the annals of rock history.
In 1976, they released their first album. With the Top 20 hits "Love Changes" and "Baby Love" they became one of the most successful American touring bands. They played headlining shows or alongside all the greats of rock, including The Who, Aerosmith, and Heart. In the early '80s, their interests diverged: Glenn embarked on a successful engineering and producing career, Wyzard devoted his time to Stevie Nicks, and Joyce recorded two solo albums. Consider her Grammy nomination for her Top 10 duet with Jeffrey Osborne: "The Last Time I Made Love".
.The current lineup includes vocalist Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy, vocalist Glenn "Doc" Murdock, bassistJerry "Wyzard" Seay and guitarist Gary "Moses Mo" Moore, four original members of the initial 1970 lineup. With guitarist John "Red Devil" Hayes and drummer Dion Derek Murdock, the group has found the perfect backup since their comeback in 1989. This band has been rocking for more than 40 years, yet sounds as fresh as if it just passed its baptism of fire.
