Business as usual? Of course not. The band keeps raising the bar for themselves. No wonder: in 2017, highlights such as the Wacken Open Air and also shows in China and other European countries were on the schedule, in addition to more than 25 festival gigs. As with the last albums, the band is always good for a surprise and doesn't care about clichés and the tight corset of the genre. They have found their sound. So unique and distinct as rarely in the genre. And yet they elicit more and more.
The punk rock guitar is tolerated and used as just another stylistic device. And all of that, in turn, means this more than anything else: The guys and gals in Mr. Irish Bastard are well-oiled musicians whose homogeneity blows your mind more than six, seven Guinnesses in a row. And speaking of Guinness: They don't give a damn about clichés. Boozing, partying, beating up - all of that is largely absent from the lyrics. Mr. Irish Bastard is about the life you can experience - and suffer - without going to the pub every night.
