It was certainly unknowable to Nicolas Sturm over a year ago when he titled his second studio album Angst Angst Overkill what an anxiety-ridden time he would be entering with the release of his album in 2016 and yet the title of his current album "Angst Angst Overkill" expresses exactly that gut feeling that many people have not only in Germany but around the world. It is an uncomfortable feeling and many ask themselves the question where all this should lead to. Of course Nicolas Sturm can't give direct simple answers with his music. It's just not simple and if it were, populists could never go hunting for votes with hateful slogans. So we have to be content with the uneasy feeling, keep reflecting and discussing and that's exactly the spirit Nicolas Sturm captures perfectly with his music! British guitars, wavy sounds and light synth pads are reminiscent of the golden days of Creation records and with outstanding lyrics create an encouraging musical whole and a secret weapon against hate and fear!
