Live & Clearly Tour 2018
After a play-free year, Wolfgang Niedecken is back on stage with BAP and a refreshingly new touring program. The band around frontman Niedecken already gave an exquisite taste of his original show program in June 2018 before the World Cup, compiled from an overwhelming repertoire of unmistakable songs.
This fall, Niedecken's BAP is going into the next power-packed tour round, rocking the stages as usual for over three hours. Here, for the first time in the band's 40-year history, they will be supported by a three-piece horn section, namely that of the "Sing meinen Song-Band".
The spectrum of the song selection is enormous and is made up of old familiar classics, such as "Kristallnaach", "Verdamp lang her", "Do kanns zaubere" or "Nemm mich met". Also new songs from the latest solo work "Reinrassije Strooßekööter - Das Familienalbum", which Wolfgang Niedecken recorded in the play-free year in New Orleans, are given to the best.
Therefore also blows the fresh southern wind, which is reflected in the varied stage design as well as in the groovy arrangements. The brass trio, consisting of trumpet, saxophone and trombone, gives the venerable Kölschrock hits like "Waschsalon", "Et ess, like't ess" or "Diss Naach ess alles drin" a sparkling touch and fits musically elegantly into the BAP sound.
With great attention to detail, Wolfgang Niedecken has this time again packed real musical finds from his treasure chest onto the set list and, together with his band, breathed a surprisingly new sense of life into them. The songs are illustrated by projections, including private photos and self-made film sequences from the road, which create a very special atmosphere on an oversized screen and are moderated together with Wolfgang Niedecken's anecdotes and stories to form a large, flowing whole.
He is not only an outstanding musician, but also a ravishing storyteller with a warm-hearted manner and a connection to his roots, the lifestyle between Chlodwigplatz and the banks of the Rhine. A musical journey from the southern city of Cologne to the American southern states with many surprises that leave nothing to be desired by the fans. The tasteful stage design is a winking reminder of the enchanting New Orleans charm of times gone by and when "Tara`s Theme" is played from offstage at the start of the concert, the title song of the classic film "Vom Winde verweht", you should be prepared for a musical journey that will kiss many a memory awake.
Wolfgang Niedecken wouldn't be Wolfgang Niedecken if he didn't also assert his socio-political claim in the course of the evening by clearly taking a stand. Many of his lyrics are more topical today than ever and tirelessly encourage more political responsibility and thoughtfulness. He is concerned with values such as dignity, decency and respect, which are unfortunately far too often forgotten in our hate-filled present.Over three hours of Rock`n Roll, authenticity, variety and concentrated endurance of the band to the last note. A tour program with plenty of depth, which awakens endless memories, but also does not go to the basement to laugh. Typisch Kölsch halt!
