British avant-garde, Belgian pop and German soul-jazz at Night of the Proms anniversary
Bryan Ferry meets Tim Bendzko at Night of the Proms 2018. Bryan Ferry, Milow, Tim Bendzko and the Pointer Sisters are the artistic pillars of the anniversary edition of Night of the Proms. In the 25th year of the successful history of this ,,classical-meets-pop tour'' the promoter presents the essence of the very idea of this crossover experience in perfection. Take exceptionally strong artists from the most diverse decades and genres of pop history and present their legendary hits accompanied by a symphony orchestra, which also conjures up the most popular hits of classical music on stage between the individual pop acts. The result is a total audiovisual work of art that takes visitors on a journey through 300 years of popular music.
With the power of Sinatra, the charisma of Gainsbourg and the intensity of Lou Reed, Bryan Ferry has always added new nuances and a verve to his music that is so cutting-edge and distinctly his own that his music has always broken new ground. Hits like "Slave to love" or "More than this" are still part of the permanent radio repertoire of German stations.
With his songs "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten", "Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären" or "Keine Maschine" Tim Bendzko has taken the German pop scene by storm. Whether opening for Elton John or Joe Cocker or on his own tours and as a judge on The Voice Kids - Tim Bendzko has been omnipresent in recent years. Now he presents his songs in symphonic guise at the Proms.
With "Ayo Technology", Milow delivered the radio earworm of the year in 2008. Since then, the down-to-earth Belgian has toured tirelessly worldwide and has long since become synonymous with a charismatic voice, irresistible melodic arches and inventive arrangements.
