"The Art of the Duo" has many faces in jazz. Guitar and trumpet respectively flugelhorn are a rather rare constellation. Here, loopers are added to the mix. Long live polyphony. The two Echo award winners and popular band leaders have known and appreciated each other for more than a decade. Anyone who has experienced them together in concert with Nils Wülker and band knows the fascinating, playful seriousness that emanates from these two so different instrumentalists. Even more than in a quintet, in a duo the two top soloists give each other space, complement each other, goad each other on in the service of the music. For their performances under the motto "Closer", the two have reaped enthusiastic headlines such as "weightless jazz dialogues" or "virtuosity and ballad-like calm". The two's repertoire is also special, an independent program of new compositions, arrangements of well-known songs by both leaders, and covers of Neneh Cherry, Nine Inch Nails, Johnny Cash, Radiohead, Björk, Beck, Justin Bieber, Massive Attack, and Goldfrapp.
