With great anticipation, Offenbach's associations are looking forward to the date for the Festival of Lights 2022 on Saturday, August 13. This year, with a lot of creativity and patience, they will once again transform their club logos and the motto of the evening into candlelight there. Thus, the open-air concert evening with the Capitol Symphony Orchestra will be a feast for all the senses. A total of 34 clubs are taking part and will begin setting up their motifs at 4 p.m. From 5 p.m. on, the area is open to visitors, and then one or the other picture can already be guessed. The full splendor unfolds at nightfall, when many thousands of candles light up, people stroll through the park and listen to the concert. The Capitol Symphony Orchestra promises this year again symphonic splendor and rocking groove with Beethoven, Wagner, Tchaikovsky and songs from "Dirty Dancing" and from "The Police".
Due to the extreme drought this year, the OSG has taken additional precautions for fire protection: Numerous fire department emergency personnel will keep a volunteer eye on the park area during the event. In addition, all clubs receive buckets with sand to be able to react quickly themselves if necessary. The park area is watered in advance by the ESO in a targeted manner and the candle containers contain less wax so that the flames inside the containers are protected from the wind. Smokers are also asked to bring mobile ashtrays and not to throw cigarette butts on the dry grounds.
There will be culinary offerings from Berdux Weine GmbH, Kickers Fan Museum, TC Eventgroup, the Lions Club Offenbach and the Rotary Club Offenbach. There will be delicious finger food such as tarte flambée, pretzel burgers, sandwiches, cocktails, wines, soft drinks and other delicacies to complement what you have brought yourself or basic supplies for spontaneous picnickers. Blankets, tableware and camping utensils are welcome to bring along, but bulky garden furniture, beer tent sets and umbrellas must remain outside for safety reasons. Dogs are also prohibited, except for assistance dogs. Those who come by bicycle will find parking facilities in the Lilipark, these are looked after by the ADFC Offenbach.
Tickets are available in advance during the opening hours of the OF InfoCenter in the Salzgäßchen (Fridays 9 am to 5 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm) or online at www.frankfurt-ticket.de and at other advance booking offices. The strolling maps for adults cost 4 euro in the advance booking, children starting from 6 years, pupils and owners of a Ehrenamtscard as well as humans with handicap (GdB starting from 80 per cent) pay 2 euro in the advance booking. Furthermore, a few seat tickets are still available at a price of 25 euros.
