The Caricatura Museum will be showing the work of Robert Gernhardt (1937-2006) in a special exhibition starting in December. This year on 13 December, the great Frankfurt draughtsman, painter, lyricist, writer and scriptwriter would have turned eighty. This birthday is a special obligation for the Caricatura Museum: as editor of the satirical magazine "Pardon" and as co-founder of the satirical magazine "Titanic", Robert Gernhardt was instrumental in making Frankfurt am Main the "capital of satire". The most important part of his graphic work is kept and cared for in the collection of the Caricatura Museum Frankfurt. The museum regularly shows part of it in its permanent exhibition, together with the works of the other four draughtsmen of the New Frankfurt School. The Caricatura Museum Frankfurt is now taking the occasion of his 80th birthday to present a large comprehensive solo exhibition of Robert Gernhardt's works, showing his satirical oeuvre in all its diversity. Robert Gernhardt's picture stories, cartoons, illustrations and the originals of his book covers will be on display. Visitors will also have access to poems and texts at various listening stations.
