Season in music theatre is characterised by variety. Works from several hundred years of opera history come to the stage, from all venues of the Staatstheater it sounds seductive for audience* members of all ages.
It starts with a festive opera gala in which soloists of the ensemble, the opera choir of the Staatstheater and the Philharmonic State Orchestra Mainz give a preview of what is to come and present overtures, arias, ensembles and choirs from the upcoming premieres and revivals.
Selections from Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, Janáček's Katja Kabanova, Prokofiev's The Love for Three Oranges, Abraham's Tale at the Grand Hotel, and Georges Aperghis' Avis de Tempête, among others, will be heard.
In addition, hits by the legendary Comedian Harmonists and surprising interludes will be presented. The moderation takes over Intendant Markus Mueller.
