A Major a.D., who can't stop giving orders, a lion hunter who has his own brother stuffed, and an actor with a speech impediment. These are the quite normal guests of the Berlin family boarding house Schöller. There Alfred and his uncle Klapproth, a landowner from the provinces, meet. Alfred wants to start his own business, but he lacks the necessary small change. His uncle promises it to him, but only on the condition that he may once experience real lunatics. In his distress, Alfred passes off the social evening of the Pension Schöller as that of a sanatorium for the insane. The invited guests include the aforementioned Major and a female writer who asks the guests questions and drives everyone crazy. Klapproth is thrilled! When the mob appears at his estate shortly afterwards, he feels compelled to lock them all up. For he believes he is to be forcibly married, fights leopards, almost loses a duel, is the hero of a novel, and is almost suffocated as Desdemona ... This well-known comedy by Mainz authors Carl Laufs and Wilhelm Jacoby is bursting with madcap humor, swinging doors, and fast-paced punchlines. The actor Peter Jordan, known from films such as Soul Kitchen or Tom Tykwer's The International as well as the Hamburg Tatort, was engaged at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and the Thalia Theater Hamburg. Together with radio play and theatre director Leonhard Koppelmann, he directs plays at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, Theater Dortmund and the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, among others. The team will now direct in Mainz for the first time. Text source and further information about the event: http://www.staatstheater-mainz.com/web/events/schauspiel1617/pension-schoeller
