With a motley programme for the whole family, the Volk im Schloss festival will once again attract visitors to Groß-Gerau's Dornberg Castle from 24 to 27 August.
Due to the great ticket demand for BADESALZ, the festival has been extended by one day this year.
On Friday, August 25, the "Love & Peace Revue" will bring the music of the legendary Woodstock festival and hippie movement to the Castle stage. With narrator, band, soloists and performers, as well as video feeds, the revue offers several hours of pure music featuring the best songs from that crazy time.
With Peter Osterwold and Ali Neander (Rodgau Monotones), Achim Dürr (New Philharmonic Orchestra Frankfurt), Volker Rebell (HR presenter) and Olaf Mill (Flatsch, comedian), numerous acquaintances of the Hessian music scene participate in the 21-member ensemble.
Perhaps Badesalz surprise on this evening with an exclusive guest appearance? One may be curious.
Previously KHARMA lure to the castle grounds. Songs by Hall & Oates, Matchbox 20, Maroon 5 and many more are interpreted in their own timeless versions. This also turns often-heard classics into exciting new discoveries. Vivid Music! Everything can, nothing must.
Saturday and Sunday are all about the family. Starting at 3 p.m., there will be children's theater, street theater and childcare. You can make yourself comfortable in the cozy beer garden or even on picnic blankets you brought along.
From 5 p.m., Darmstadt music award winners BESIDOS break through the boundaries of musical genres. They are cultural bridge builders and their concerts are an expression of boundless joie de vivre.
The festival will focus on the premiere of "Everyman". The "Absinto Orkestra" and the Büchner Bühne Riedstadt will bring their very own interpretation of the moral folk play to the stage. There will be no lack of topicality and local relevance.
SKINNY LISTER will transform the Schlosswiese into a full pub afterwards. Sold out tours of the UK and USA, opening for Frank Turner, the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly - now at Volk im Schloss.
The festival Sunday starts with a jazz and swing matinee by the IKS Big Band. At the same time, childcare will again be offered for children.
The afternoon is all about choral singing. It kicks off with a children's musical followed by a singing workshop. Afterwards the best choirs from the district of Groß-Gerau will present their skills. In the evening "MEDLZ", Europe's best women's a capella band, will ring in the finale of the festival.
The entrance to the festival area is basically free. Only for the performances of Badesalz (24./25.08) and MEDLZ (27.08.) tickets must be purchased. Tickets are available at all AD-Ticket advance booking offices, or by calling 0180 60 50 400.
