His distinctive, straight and honest voice is his trademark. Since making it to the final contestants in the inaugural season of "The Voice Of Germany," U.S.-born Percival has been an in-demand rock musician.
This fall/winter, the Dallas, Texas-raised rock singer will be on tour with new single "Rebel, Baby" in tow. The release of his new studio album, currently co-written - and produced - by Engel Mayr (Russkaya, among others), is scheduled for early 2019.
A year ago, Percival moved to Vienna to work on songs with quite a few rock musicians he found in Austria's capital and deemed perfect.
Musically, the singer continues on his own character-driven path: infectious rock numbers with influences of grunge and glam rock. "Dirt-glam" is how Percival himself describes his style. His lyrics are peppered with political-social messages or self-critical reflections, always embedded in choruses with earworm character.
In the song "Little Finger" (available via iTunes and Amazon) Percival addresses Donald Trump 's mother, asking why she couldn't have used contraception and naming all the things he thinks are wrong with Trump's actions.
The title track from the upcoming album, "Killing Butterflies," on the other hand, is about the illusions we usually indulge in our social lives. "We tell ourselves our own world is perfect, ignoring the fact that there are social and political problems in that very world," Percival says. "Throughout my new songs, I deal with the fact that we always want to be perfect and are fooling ourselves in the process. In doing so, we should kill the butterflies that block our view of reality, face reality and try to make it better."
Honesty and directness accompany musician Percival through and through - you can look forward to energetic, unadulterated shows at his upcoming shows as well.
