PETROL GIRLS are a feminite post-hardcore punk band that originally formed in London. The band now reside in Graz or elsewhere, tour almost continuously and are strong proponents of DIY culture, anti-capitalism, freedom of movement across national borders and intersectional feminism. The band's influences range from Refused, The Slits, Fugazi and Björk, and they've had the pleasure of supporting RVIVR, H2O, Anti-Flag, Capdown and Dead kennedys.
The name "Petrol Girls" comes from the French word Pétroleuses, fabled women who allegedly set fire to private property with Molotov cocktails made from milk bottles during the Paris Commune and rejected traditional gender roles.
