Wolfhager Figurentheater presents its latest production "Pettersson and Findus" based on the children's books by Sven Nordqvist.
Pettersson is a friendly old man. He lives on a small farm in the middle of the Swedish countryside. There is also a flock of chickens living on the farm, and they are good company. But unfortunately they are always much too excited to talk to Pettersson.
There are a few farms in the neighbourhood. Sometimes neighbours come to visit for coffee or to borrow something from Pettersson. In the carpenter's shed and in the attic there are a lot of things that the old man has accumulated over the years. Pettersson is a real inventor and do-it-yourselfer. He can cook, sew, make things, fish, bake, tell stories, do crossword puzzles and, above all, invent new things. But he was often so alone that in the morning he would have preferred to pull the covers over his head and disappear. Until his neighbour brought him a cardboard box with "Findus green peas" written on it. A present for Pettersson. But there were no green peas inside. Inside was a cat who was still so small that he had room in Pettersson's hand. Every night he read him stories. And one day, while reading the newspaper, the cat spoke his first words: "I would like to have pants like that," said Findus. What a wonderful cat Pettersson got!
A puppet show for the whole family!
Sven Nordqvist is one of the most popular and successful picture book artists in Scandinavia and also in Germany. In 1984 his picture book "A Birthday Cake for the Cat" was published and made him famous very quickly. Since then, fans young and old all over the world have come to love the inventive Pettersson and his inquisitive cat Findus, in books as well as on stage and on the big screen.
