At the age of 30, Alexander Krichel has established himself as one of the most promising and intelligent voices among young pianists. Since being named "Young Artist of the Year" at the 2013 ECHO Klassik with his impressive debut CD for Sony Classical, the German pianist has released a series of critically acclaimed recordings, including Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto with the Dresden Philharmonic under Michael Sanderling and "Miroirs," an album of solo repertoire by Maurice Ravel. On February 1, 2019, his fifth album, entitled "An die ferne Geliebte," featuring works by Beethoven, Wagner, Kreisler and Schumann, was released on Sony Classical and immediately entered the German classical music charts at No. 5.

Alexander Krichel already boasts debuts with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra under Jonathan Nott and the hr Symphony Orchestra under Antonio Méndez, as well as the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Kyoto Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa.
He has performed other piano concertos with the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Festival Strings Lucerne, Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmónica Nacional de Venezuela and the Royal Camerata of Romania. In demand as a solo artist, Alexander Krichel has given recitals all over the world, from London to Cape Town, from New York to Tokyo, from Mexico City to Guangzhou.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, Krichel began playing the piano at the age of six and became a preliminary student at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg at fifteen. In 2007, he continued his studies with Vladimir Krainev at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien before joining Dmitri Alexeev at the Royal College of Music in London, where he graduated with honors in 2016. From 2012 to 2015, Krichel was an artist in Bayer Culture's stART funding program. He is also a fellow of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, the Berenberg Bank Foundation, PE Förderungen and the Otto Group.
