Contentment is not one of the states of mind characteristic of Piotr Anderszewski. "I doubt a lot. There are many questions - mostly the big ones - that plague me," the Polish pianist confesses. His striving for perfection, as challenging as it may be for the artist himself at times, has admittedly already led to quite a few stellar musical moments. Such as his last recital at the Alte Oper in January 2018, when the Pole impressed his audience with extremely nuanced playing.
For his upcoming piano recital, Anderszewski has now set his sights on two touchstones of the pianists' guild, in addition to a Haydn sonata: Bach's second volume of the Well-Tempered Clavier (from which he will play excerpts) and Beethoven's late weighty Sonata op. 110.
