Poets Of The Fall are currently on tour in their home country Finland to celebrate their 15th birthday. In fact, it's quite amazing that the band has been on the road together for so long and their songs are still true to the originals, despite all the stylistic transformations. Just recently, the guys have released a new single with "False Kings", which once again goes a step further: with strings, great arrangement and a decent chunk of theatricality from singer Marko Saaresto, the track once again sets standards. Poets Of The Fall have come a long way since Saaresto got fed up with his boring life, formed the band with his pals, Olli Tukiainen on guitar and keyboardist Markus Karlonen, and set up a studio.
Shortly after, guitarist Jaska Mäkinen, bassist Jani Snellman and last but not least drummer Jari Salminen completed the sextet. Initially still firmly attached to post-grunge and alt-rock, the six-piece developed a poppy streak in their music that connected them to other Finnish bands such as The Rasmus.
Poets Of The Fall entered the charts at number one with their debut album "Signs Of Life", a placement that nearly all of their records achieved. And although sales outside of Finland were not quite as successful, the guys from Helsinki have earned themselves an even more loyal fan base worldwide. Which is not least due to their great live shows: Here, the old alternative rock school really comes into its own again, and Saaresto shows what he's got vocally. In all registers he shows his voice to its best advantage as well as with big gestures and epic dance interludes he makes the audience cheer, while the band fires a wide and extremely loud sound. So while Poets Of The Fall are on their anniversary tour in Finland, they have announced along the way that the new single will also be followed by an album and quite a few gigs: Poets Of The Fall are coming to us in October on their ""Ultraviolet" tour.
