Ingo Pohlmann (* 18. May 1972 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück) is a German singer who performs under the stage name "Pohlmann."

He released his first album Zwischen Heimweh und Fernsucht in 2006 on EMI Music Germany, and is now signed to Four Music. Pohlman plays live with a permanent band in a changing line-up. This included Lars Cölln and Alex Grube (bass), Hagen Kuhr (cello), and Reiner Hubert (drums).

Life and Work

Pohlmann was born in Rheda-Wiedenbrück in 1972. He attended secondary school, completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and did civilian service in Münster. Subsequently, Pohlman completed the specialized baccalaureate in Münster, later moved to Hamburg.

His musical career began in the band Goldjunge together with Erik Essig, Florian Siegmund and Matze Böhme. The group plays from 1999 a "soft" rock, according to their own statement, and appeared among others in the support of Nena, the Cranberries and Laith Al-Deen. This was followed by their own tour and various guest appearances, including in the television series Unter uns on RTL.

The quartet failed to achieve lasting success, which is why the band later disbanded. Ingo Pohlmann then waited tables in a Hamburg bar and sang there regularly, every last Thursday unknown artists could just drop by and play. There he was discovered by Henning Wehland, the frontman of the rock band H-Blockx. Together with Wehland, Jan Löchel and Christian Neander, Pohlmann produced his first album Zwischen Heimweh und Fernsucht, which was released on 24 February 2006. The single contained therein Wenn jetzt Sommer wär reached number 52 in the Media Control charts.

In spring 2007, Pohlmann represented the state of North Rhine-Westphalia at the Bundesvision Song Contest with the song Mädchen und Rabauken. He reached the fifth place and worked from then on on his second album. This was again produced together with Christian Neander, released on 21 September 2007 under the title Fliegende Fische and was rated by critics as more adult. In the Media Control charts, the single Wenn es scheint, dass nichts gelingt was in 92nd place.

A pub tour through northern Germany followed, as well as a regular tour of Germany in November 2010, which concluded with a concert at Fabrik. After the release of the single Für Dich, which reached 93rd place in the charts, the third album König der Straßen was presented on 17 September 2010. This time Pohlmann worked together with producer Ralf Mayer. In terms of content, there were some similarities between the album König der Straßen and pieces by Philipp Poisel, but it was received positively by the majority of critics. The eponymous tour König der Straßen was performed in March and April 2011.

In late April 2013, Pohlmann unveiled his fourth album Nix ohne Grund, which includes the single StarWars and is distributed by Four Music. The corresponding tour begins in September 2013 and makes guest appearances in Bremen, Berlin, Cologne and Stuttgart, among other cities.

On 26 September 2013, Pohlmann represented North Rhine-Westphalia at the 2013 Bundesvision Song Contest with the song Atmen. However, he was unable to match his first participation with a 12th place. Text source and further information about this event: https://zoomfrankfurt.com/
