Running away. An ancient motif. A human tradition. Being on the road, travelling, discovering new places - these are all things that Viennese producer, singer and songwriter PRESSYES loves. But exactly this often leads to the question where you actually want to go, and furthermore, whether you might be running away from something on your travels. "On the Run" attempts to find answers to these existential questions.
For PRESSYES, it was the first time he filmed himself. With a new camera the size of an iPhone, he shot the video in Crete with the help of Marlene Lacherstorfer: "The landscape and especially the gorges in Crete fascinate me a lot. We tried to capture this feeling as well as possible. Andreas Zimmer (fizzymint.de) really made the images shine in post-production."
Just like his first single "Touch the Sky" released in June, "On the Run" is produced exclusively with vintage equipment. PRESSYES is the new project of Viennese musician Rene Mühlberger, known from various previous projects and on the road as a touring musician throughout Europe. The need to process countless memories, collected on his travels through Asia and Europe, led him to withdraw. All these different values, cultures and places were to be condensed into the sound that eventually became PRESSYES.
After retiring from the public eye, Mühlberger worked alone in his studio on his very own vision of summery yet psychedelic pop songs, using an array of analog synthesizers and vintage equipment. Inspired by bands and musicians like Tame Impala, Kevin Parker, Ariel Pink, Foxygen and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, PRESSYES has developed his very own sound. The result is an extraordinary soundscape, created with proven analogue equipment, full of references to the great pop days of the seventies, mixed with psychedelic sounds. His first single "Touch the Sky" played a particularly strong role for producer/singer/songwriter PRESSYES in finding and defining his sound. "On The Run" is the logical progression of this blend of psychedelic, pop and hip hop.
