An actress and a musician rehearse the Kästner evening "Königinnen nach Maß - Kästners Frauen geben Auskunft". The writer and women is one of the central themes in both his life and his work: biographically, it all begins with the close bond with his mother, who becomes a kind of superwoman in his life. It follows the first love with Ilse Julius-Beeks, later numerous love affairs and affairs, until he finally meets his "life man" Liselotte Enderle, with whom he - nevertheless unmarried - enters into the longest relationship. But she, too, will not be his last wife.
It is above all in his poems - for example, in "Sogenannte Klassefrauen", "E Animierdame stößt Bescheid" and the famous "Sachliche Romanze" - that the two artists find traces of how Kästner worked and processed his relationships. They try to tell Kästner's (love) life mainly from the point of view of his women - in the form of play scenes, recitations and songs, some of which were composed especially for this evening (by Pe Werner, Terry Truck and Marcus Busch, among others). The actress thereby becomes more and more Kästner's women, the musician more and more Kästner.
