Bienvenus à Francfort! With the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Mikko Franck, an international orchestra accepts the invitation to the Alte Oper Frankfurt for the first time since the house was closed due to Corona. The concert, long planned for Sunday, 25 October 2020, can take place after adjustment to the currently valid official requirements - and Patricia Kopatchinskaja, focus artist of the Alte Oper in the 2020/21 season, is also part of the party. "Leaner", "shorter" are the simplified buzzwords for concert operations in Corona times, and this also affects the orchestra's programme in Frankfurt. Instead of the originally planned large-scale works by Debussy and Strauss, the orchestra brings the equally elegant and original D minor Symphony by César Franck, a work with which the Belgian-born composer met with great opposition during his lifetime and yet made French musical history. Unaffected by all the constraints, the second item on the evening's programme is Patricia Kopatchinskaja taking the solo part in Karol Szymanowski's Second Violin Concerto. In his last orchestral work, the composer masterfully combined folk music elements from his Polish homeland with contemporary compositional techniques to create a work full of passion and drama.
To ensure that as many people as possible can attend the concert with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Patricia Kopatchinskaja despite the corona's lower seating capacity, the musicians* have agreed to play their program twice. The first concert will take place at 18:00, the second at 21:00. Both concerts will last a maximum of 75 minutes and will be played without an intermission.
Due to these adjustments, previously purchased tickets will not remain valid, and a new ticket purchase will be required to attend. Previously purchased tickets for the originally announced concert must be returned to the respective box office for a refund.
