Ray 2018

The international photography triennial RAY 2018 presents for the third time outstanding positions in photography and related media at over ten locations in Frankfurt and the region. In exhibitions with corresponding content on the theme Extreme, more than 40 selected international artists use their photographic practice to reflect on social transformations, concepts of identity and aesthetic trends in the 21st century. In cooperation with over 15 partner institutions and collections in the region, as well as with numerous events, RAY 2018 promises a multi-faceted exploration of photography against the backdrop of its social significance. For the first time, RAY 2018 will open with a four-day festival: from 24 to 27 May 2018, photography enthusiasts, visitors and artists are invited to exchange ideas on the medium of photography and the triennial theme Extreme. In lectures, talks and panel discussions at the Festival Center in MMK 3 of the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst, artists, experts from various disciplines and the RAY 2018 curatorial team will shed light on phenomena of the extreme over four days.
