Love, fertility and life, hatred, anger and death: hardly any other colour arouses as many associations and emotions in us as red. And hardly any colour catches the eye more strongly wherever it appears. In traffic, in nature, in art. In film, colour is used as an important, usually very consciously employed aesthetic and narrative device. Especially in the development of the cinematic narrative, it is used to create images and achieve unconscious impressions. Which ones and how - that is what "ROT investigates. A film installation in space" at the Deutsches Filmmuseum.
Numerous films make it possible to experience the diverse use of the color red in film along the thematic fields of figures, objects, spaces, effects and direction. Visitors experience the effect of a color in the midst of large-scale projections, which eventually take them over completely in the "Red Room."
