170 years ago, in February 1848, the Manifesto of the Communist Party was published. This manifesto is one of the most influential political texts ever written. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of its main author, Karl Marx. The Manifesto contains the basic tenets of historical materialism, describes the idea and goals of communism. It is not only a socio-philosophically sophisticated and historical document, many passages have political relevance for crises and conflicts. The reading seminar introduces into the world of thought of the Manifesto, shows strengths and weaknesses of Marx's argumentation.
