The Plough in Us, or a World in Transition

The field in a man's heart is stonier, we may once have read in Stephen King. But hardly anyone writes more gracefully of landscape and mentality than Reinhard Kaiser-Mühlecker. After his successful novel "Fremde Seele, dunkler Wald", which was shortlisted for the German Book Prize in 2016, Kaiser-Mühlecker now writes about the upheavals of our present. A journalist returns to the foreign place of his childhood. He writes for the struggling local paper, he begins an affair and works on the farm of a fattening farmer whose land has been expropriated. There, everyone is drawn into fighting for their lives to be taken away. With "Expropriation" we can expect a compelling and stirring novel about our world in upheaval, about the plough in us that changes our feelings and relationships (S. Fischer). There is no more beautiful, more intense way to administer insecurity at the moment. It is moderated by Jan Wiele (F.A.Z.).
