Theater La Senty Menti
The story of a family before, during and after the Shoah - ages 12+
Jenny, Liora's grandmother, is killed by the Nazis in Ausschwitz in 1943. Her children, flee to Palestine and build a new life there. Later, 25 years after the end of the war, Liora's father returns to Germany. No one talks about her grandmother's violent death, and yet the memory of it shapes the lives of this family. Liora comes into possession of a ring that once belonged to Jenny and begins to investigate. The path of this ring reveals the fate of a Jewish-German family over three generations.
Actress and theatre-maker Liora Hilb has developed remembeRING, a play about the history of her own family. The text of the play is based on family lore on the one hand and on conversations with young people about their views on the Shoah and Jewish life in Germany today on the other.
RembeRING was awarded the Karfunkel 2017, the Children's and Youth Theatre Prize of the City of Frankfurt.
