OPPOSITION by Barbara Haker, Freies Theater Wiesbaden
Wiesbaden, early thirties - the Weimar Republic has fallen, Hitler is in power, society and state are brought into line. This is also the case in the Bergkirche parish. Such pastors were specifically appointed to swear the congregations to loyalty to the line. But the other pastors, the church council and the members of the congregation fought against this - and risked life and limb. Under the eyes of the Nazis and in secret, a resistance is formed, which during the reign of terror forms a strong network that stands up against the bending of their own Christian values as well as against the persecution of Jews and arbitrariness.
How long will this RESISTANCE be able to hold? Hitler's henchmen are everywhere, doing everything they can to eliminate the Resisters.

This part of Wiesbaden's history is still too unknown or forgotten by many. The Freie Theater Wiesbaden remembers the people from the Bergkirchenviertel who went this way. Multi-layered and differentiated, the play "Widerstand" illuminates the personal fates of the people who opposed the National Socialist ideology and seduction from the middle of society.
Through years of intensive research with contemporary witnesses, the Bergkirche pastor Markus Nett has gathered extensive material about this time and the people around the Bergkirche and made it available to Barbara Haker for the production of this play.

It plays: Mario Krichbaum, Renate Bahm, David Földszin, Barbara Haker
Text and direction: Barbara Haker
