Franz and Karl are brothers, and they want money. The money of their parents, Otto and Linde, but they have nothing left to give either and anxiously await the arrival of their dreaded sons. They only want their inheritance, what is due to them; but there can be no such thing, nothing is inherited, nothing is passed on, neither materially nor idealistically, neither in this family nor among the neighbours, who also literally give each other nothing. Because, and everyone knows this, it cannot end well. Ewald Palmetshofer, the master of damaged characters, tells with lyrical, broken language, bitter irony and grim wit an apocalyptic story of late capitalism, of anti-sustainability, from which there can be no escape, for any generation, for anyone.
A story that is even more topical in 2018 in the public debate on the debt brake, in front of the bank towers, than when it was first performed in Vienna in 2012. Schauspiel Frankfurt thus presents the author for the first time in this city.
