Displacement, discrimination, inhumane working conditions: Sporting events like the 2018 World Cup in Russia go hand in hand with the erosion of human rights. How can civil societies in autocratically ruled countries be supported without putting themselves in the spotlight with superiority thinking? How can awareness be raised that our stadium enjoyment has to do with the exploitation of Asian jersey sewers? What could a mega-event look like that actually does no harm to anyone?
