Rue Royale are a married couple and a band. In 2006 Ruth and Brookln Dekker formed Rue Royale in Chicago, and they've been making music together ever since. And what music it is! The Dekkers' indie folk is playful, surprising, never getting trapped in melancholy. Rue Royale sound crystal clear, precise, to the point. They mix the mindset of singer/songwriter pop with the power of electronic beats. That they have a soft spot for the hippie folk of Fleetwood Mac, but also for Radiohead or the great José González, you can hear in their songs. From Chicago they finally made their way to Europe, in the British city of Nottingham they found a new home. And they toured, playing close to 1000 concerts and some of their new songs were written on the road. Their breakthrough came when the Berlin label Sinnbus took notice of the duo and signed Rue Royale. Sinnbus is just the right home for bands that explore the tension between melody and experimentation, between pop and electronic.
In 2014 the pair had taken a baby break, now the pop world has them back, thankfully.
