A legend forms the starting point for one of the most beautiful spring festivals along the banks of the Main in Rüsselsheim. According to an alleged incident, Adam Opel was pelted with stones by disgruntled journeymen tailors when he tried to land a sewing machine on the Flörsheim bank. Following on from this legend, the Main Festival is held in Rüsselsheim every year at the end of April and beginning of May. During the festival weekend, a special passenger ferry is set up between Rüsselsheim and Flörsheim. In addition, there are numerous showmen on the Main foreshore. There will be music and dance as well as a wide range of food and drinks.
