"My desire is great."
From the correspondence between Sigmund Freud and Stefan Zweig

"I had known Sigmund Freud, that great and austere spirit who deepens and expands the knowledge of the human soul like no other in our epoch, in Vienna still in those days when he was judged there as a stubborn and embarrassing solitary man and was hostile.“ Thus Stefan Zweig in his "Memoirs of a European - The World of Yesterday". Stefan Zweig was a passionate admirer of Freud, so passionately and almost abjectly devoted in his adoration that it sometimes became too much for Freud.
In 1908 their correspondence began, it ends with a letter from Zweig on 14 September 1939. Whether Freud still read this letter, which begins for the first time - instead of "Esteemed Professor" - with a confidential salutation: "My dear revered friend and master", we do not know. Freud died a few days after Zweig's letter, on 23.9.1939.
Excerpts from this revealing correspondence will be read by Oliver Kraushaar and Nico Holonics. Both actors are members of the ensemble at Schauspiel Frankfurt.
Nico Holonics is also a lecturer at the Mozarteum Salzburg and the HfMDK Frankfurt. He can also be heard in many audio books. Oliver Kraushaar, trained at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Hamburg, has been a permanent ensemble member at Schauspiel Frankfurt since 2002. He can also be seen in film and television, currently in the crime thriller "Zu nah", a production of the Hessischer Rundfunk.
