When asked what Seasick Steve would be today if not a musician, he once succinctly replied: "Dead." Just as well, then, that the man discovered the blues. He had already financed half his life as a hobo with it, among other things, and supplemented his meager income as a street musician. But it wasn't until he was around 50 that he started working in the studio. So his civil name Steve Wold appears under the entry "producer" on records by Modest Mouse or Bikini Kill. And finally, in his mid-60s (he doesn't tell anyone how old he really is. Old hobo superstition!) Seasick Steve became Mojo Magazine's oldest Breakthrough Artist ever - thanks to his second record "Dog House Music". Since then, everyone has wanted to hear the stories this gifted storyteller loves to tell on stage and, of course, sings, shouts, sighs and plays on his shreddy and partly homemade guitars. Seasick Steve's new album, beautifully titled "Keepin' The Horse Between Me And The Ground," comes out in early October, Oct. 7, and then the grand old bluesman hits the road.
