If you don't know the chansonnier, pianist and poet Sebastian Krämer, you might not even know that this is possible at the same time: music that touches and surprises and lyrics of haunting polish that tell entire novels in just a few minutes, make a trifle full of humor shine, or sweep us into abysses of horror or longing. Add to this a sensitive voice that succinctly glosses over the often relentless banter to trace the subtleties. This chansonnier has mastered the art of modulation on all levels. His musical vocabulary ranges from swing to Viennese school. In his commentaries Krämer is capricious, in his songs sweet to coarse. And the more burlesque the facade, the more delicate the message. This is lamentation on a high level.
