The Viennese in Frankfurt gives himself the honour. With his new best-of program "Groebner plays himself", the Bornheimer with an Eastern European migration background proves why he has won four prestigious cabaret awards (Salzburger Stier, German Cabaret Award, German Cabaret Award, Austrian Cabaret Award) in his 20-year stage career and can still ride the tram unmolested (hardly any TV presence).
He shows us his very special Groebnersche world view on bosses and secretaries at the Christmas party, the lovely voices of Viennese women, drunks on full moon nights and love in times of the end of the world. Through it all, he is accompanied by no one but his sampler, his ukulele and his crisis.
Only the title leaves us with questions: He's playing himself...and how? Is he playing up? Is he acting out? Is he overplaying himself? Or is he simply playing himself? If not, then who?
But to find out, you'll have to come yourself.
Little note: His current play is called "From the Man Who Wanted to Know Who Crapped on His Head g'shitting". He insists on not putting commas in the title, by the way. Not that you think we're that stupid.
