Japanese punk band Shonen Knife confirms nine European concerts in Germany, Austria and Czech Republic. Girl groups of the 60s, the Beach Boys and the early punk rock of the Ramones had a big influence on their unique sound, which quickly earned the band a reputation as Japan's female answer to 'The Ramones'. In 1991, none other than Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) discovered the band for himself at a concert in L.A. and expressed his excitement afterwards: "When I finally got to see them live, I was transformed into a hysterical nine-year-old-girl at a Beatles concert." He thus sets the stage for a good collaboration as the most famous fan. Nirvana confirmed Shonen Knife as support for their UK tour for the hit album Nevermind, during which Cobain even covered the song "Twist Barbie" by sisters Naoko Yamano and Atsuko Yamano live. As time went on, the bands grew closer and Nirvana members appeared more often as guests at Shonen Knife concerts. After all these years, some changes and various recordings and tours, the band now comes back on tour to Europe fresher than ever with a new album!
