When Sierra Kidd posts the song "Head Villa" to the internet in early 2013, his life changes abruptly. The industry predicts a golden future for him, the scene celebrates him as a huge talent. On the net, he is hailed as a new prodigy due to his complex and haunting rhyme structure. His personal reflections are almost depth psychological.
However, there is much more behind the internet hype than just the next mystified internet rapper with high click numbers. In 1996, Sierra was born in Emden, amidst rural small-town idylls of East Frisian charm. "The people who grow up here talk about the big city and dream of New York. They all end up graduating from high school, going to college, becoming lawyers and settling down. I was always different from everyone," Sierra Kidd says. At home, as the oldest among seven siblings, he takes on the role of father and supports his single mother. "My music is, like, me," Sierra says. Characteristic of his sound are the reverberated guitars that carry the flat, atmospheric beats and are complemented by his unique flair for rapped melodies. Following his debut album "Nowhere" which charted at #6 in 2014, Sierra Kidd, who is only 19 years old, surprisingly released his second studio album "FSOD" without any announcement via his newly formed label "TEAMFUCKSLEEP". The first single "Dein" immediately made its way into the radio landscape. Catchy hooks and melodic beats very much in the Sierra Kidd mold are the recipe. You love it or you hate it, just like the motto of the album title: "Fuck Sleep Or Die".
