Anyone who has experienced Sigur Rós live even once knows that the Icelanders' shows are far more than mere concert evenings. This is partly due to the intoxicating drama of their songs, which are sometimes dense pop masterpieces and sometimes stubborn, loudly roaring sonic beasts. And on the other hand because they embed their songs in atmospheric, technically perfectly staged stage visuals. In addition, of course, there is the extraordinary presence of these three musicians. Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson with his worldly, wondrous voice, who at the same time works his guitar with a violin bow. Bassist Georg "Goggi" Hólm, the ever-smiling calm pole of the trio, and finally Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson, who sets the pulse of the band with his drumming. In autumn Sigur Rós will finally play in German venues again. They will do without an opening act and play two sets at once. Plenty of room, then, for a deep dive into the band's oeuvre - and, at the same time, a chance to share new material, as Sigur Rós have announced first glimpses of their eighth studio album.
