Sly & Robbie, drummer Sly Dunbar and bassist and keyboardist Robert Shakespeare, are the reggae legends from Jamaica. They started their career in the early 70s and won the first ever Grammy Award for a reggae album in 1985 with their band Black Uhuru. In 1999 they won their second Grammy for the duo album "Friends". As a producer duo, Sly & Robbie are known for their innovative spirit, combining dancehall, soul, hip-hop and reggae with many other influences. In their successful project with Nils Petter Molvaer, they create a unique soundscape that ranges from the colourful, elegiac sounds of Norwegian jazz - carried by Molvær's incomparable trumpet playing - to the energetic grooves of Jamaica. With Eivind Aarset (guitar) and Vladislav Delay (electronics), a band of kindred musicians has found itself beyond genre boundaries.
