In the collective of about 30 musicians, affectionately known as "The Fam", at the center of which is bassist, composer, founder and bandleader Michael League. Each show is played with a rotating lineup of 8-12 band members and varying setlist. The members of SNARKY PUPPY, who have played in the bands of Snoop Dog, Beyonce and Erikah Badu, among others, know how to mature hard funk and playful fusion on stage into a hot live performance that retains the liveliness and spontaneity of a jam session despite elaborate arrangements.
The band's fine blend of sophisticated compositions, harmonies and improvisations has brought huge success with audiences and press to the band, which was formed in 2003 from a group of friends in the University of North Texas jazz studies program. After a decade of uninterrupted productivity in the studio and on stage, and three Grammy Awards (Best R&B Performance in 2014, Best Contemporary Instrumental Album in 2016 and 2017), the now New York-based collective suddenly found themselves as one of the most influential figures on the jazz scene. In the Big Apple, SNARKY PUPPY regularly host after-hours sessions and meet with singers and musicians they admire.
At its core, SNARKY PUPPY represents the merging of black and white American musical culture with the addition of various accents from the global music world. The group has members from Japan, Argentina, Canada, the UK and Puerto Rico who contribute appropriate influences.

Having matured from a bunch of playful kids into a musical powerhouse, Snarky Puppy are certainly no longer an insider's tip in 2019.
