.Since SNARKY PUPPY was formed in 2004 by bassist Michael League, the band has matured from a bunch of fun-loving kids from Northern Texas University into the musical powerhouse that has made them the hot insider's tip. When you see these guys live, you understand what SNARKY PUPPY means by their motto "For your brain and booty": they succeed in blending intelligent songs, strong melodies and heavy beats that just make you want to get up and dance.
The members of SNARKY PUPPY, who have played in bands including. in the bands of Snoop Dog, Beyonce and Erikah Badu, among others, know how to mature hard funk and playful fusion on stage into a hot live performance that retains the liveliness and spontaneity of a jam session despite elaborate arrangements.
Another hobbyhorse of SNARKY PUPPY is an after-hours concert series that takes place regularly on Friday nights in New York. At these sessions, the band meets ad hoc with singers, musicians and composers they admire. They were also the basis for the album "Family Dinner Volume 1", which earned SNARKY PUPPY their first Grammy in 2014. They received the second one in early 2016 for another unusual collaboration with the Dutch Metropole Orkest on the album "Sylva". And SNARKY PUPPY are also hot candidates for a Grammy with 2016's Family Dinner - Volume 2", which they recorded in New Orleans with guests including Susana Baca, Salif Keïta, Jacob Collier, David Crosby, Jeff Coffin, Charlie Hunter, Becca Stevens and Laura Mvula.
