For the Viennese artist collective Sofa Surfers, musical advancement has been the focus of their work since their founding in 1997. From their debut Transit to their latest album 20, the Sofa Surfers are constantly exploring the possibilities of technology on the one hand and collective play on the other. The band likes to take risks and constantly reshape themselves in terms of working methods and concept. This fact makes the Sofa Surfers difficult to categorize. In this free space, the Sofa Surfers have long escaped common scene constraints and not only created remarkable albums, but also wrote film and theater music, released solo albums and worked on various art projects, among other things. But with 8 studio albums now under their belt, a coherent overall picture of highly musical stylistic fusions in rather dark pop cultural borderlands is revealed.
